Why would i need counseling?
If you are pregnant – and weren’t planning on it – it can be overwhelming. You have a lot of decisions to make. In a private, confidential, and caring environment, you are offered at no cost information not only about your pregnancy but about your options, including parenting, adoption, and abortion,* as well as about abstinence, relationships, and continuing with school or work. Sometimes it’s good to talk with someone who will listen and help you sort through your choices, express your concerns and voice your fears. Counseling offers a safe environment for you to open up about what you are really feeling and experiencing.
(*We do not perform, or refer for abortion.)
What will happen at counseling?
Your counselor is there to listen and offer encouragement. You will be greeted warmly when you arrive. The two of you will probably sit on one of our comfortable couches and just talk. She may ask some questions to get the conversation started but really she is there to listen. She is also there to address any questions or concerns you may have as well as link you to resources within the community if necessary. The good thing is, you may have more options than you think.
Who are the counselors?
All of our counselors are men and women who have come to BRPC wanting to help individuals just like you. They volunteer their time to offer support and a listening ear. All of our counseling services are confidential and you can request to see your counselor again if you choose to come back.
